Add a temporary Coming Soon/splash page

Last Updated: June 5, 2024, as of MereChurch 1.5.

With MereChurch, it's easy to add a Splash page to your site. This will show instead of your main site content. It's useful when you are just starting out and don't have enough content for a full website, OR if you want to temporarily hide your website behind a smaller splash page (perhaps to convey critical information, like a change of meeting location or a closure).

To add a splash page, navigate to Settings > Splash:

From here, you can manage all the settings necessary to add a splash page.

'Use Splash Page' is the most important setting —when selected, this splash page will replace your existing site (don't worry, nothing's been deleted! You can think of it as being hidden underneath this splash page).

You have some options at your disposal:

  • Show site name/logo (shows your church name and logo, which can be set in Settings > General)
  • Show social media links (if you've set links to your social media pages in Settings > Navigation, you can set them to display on this splash page.
  • Blurb — Add a blurb to add arbitrary text to the landing page
  • Contact Email — when set to enabled, creates a button with a contact link
  • Show Maps Link — when set to enabled, displays a link to Google Maps, which is set in Settings > Location
  • Show Meeting Times — when set to enabled, displays your meeting times, which are set in Settings > Location
  • Background Image — Add a background image if you'd like
  • Theme — (Dark or Light) Determines if the content on the page will be white text on black background, or black text on white background.
  • Add Tint — If set, the system will add a dark or light tint to your background image depending on which theme you selected
